Hi- I know I have already introduced myself, but was wondering, since there seems to be alot of folks on this forum, could people sign up here, letting me know who has kids and their ages. Perhaps we can organize family trips, like skiing, beach, hiking or even birthday parties. Thanks!!

Hello, I live near Atri and have 2 children, Oren who is 2 and a half and Ash who is 11 months. How old are yours?

I have just noticed that you teach yoga here too!! So do I!!! In Atri and at home. We start our yoga holidays business next year: http://www.shanticentre.com.

Maybe we should meet up sometime for coffee, or other such yogic drink!!?? Would you like to come over and see us?

Well, I guess it would have been a good idea to add my kids ages...sorry about that... they are 10 (Adeline) and 13 (Noel)... Thanks for writing!!! We are heading up to Roccorasso for a few days of skiing. If anyone of you are around during the holidays, perhaps we can get together for a drink or something? Take care ya'll

Then I'll add mine as well.

Janus is 9 and Nicolo' is 8 - we tried to take them up to Roccaraso last year, but skiing didn't seem too much fun for them - but in fact what bothered them was the ski instruktor, the situation just reminded them too much of school...
But a spring hike or pic-nic would definitely be an idea - just don't know where spring is hiding at the moment.

Hello Liz,

Thanks for responding to this thread.... Do you live permanently in Loreto? Penne is very close as you know and we know of an english family living in Loreto with an 8 year old son attending the elementary school.... I agree with your kids that the Italians seem to take a very rigid approach to teaching kids, but with the great snow this year, it is pretty fun to take them on the bunny slop and let them have a go. Our kids love skiing and have ventured off into off pist (with dad) and have improved leaps and bounds this year. Would love to get together some time.... I have a yoga studio in Penne if you should ever be interested. I have classes Tuesday and Wednesday mornings at 10 am Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9pm and Wednesday, Thursday, Fridays at 7pm and Saturdays at 4pm You can also see my facebook account for Jo-Dee Collins or my website http://www.Abruzzoyoga.com

Hi, yes I'm permanent, I live here on my 8th year doing this and that, mainly technical translation and web site maintenance from my home office (which is why I spend a lot of time in front of the pc). Perhaps you are a friend of the danish couple having bought a house in collecorvino?
There is an english boy playing basket with my son, I don't really know the parents, but see them often around school.

I'll definitely come and visit your classes when I cut down on the rehabilitation in the gym, another month or so

It would appear that (a) there are not many children of forum members here and (b) they are all much older than my piccolina nocciolina.  Greer is nearly 15 months old (DOB 10/2008 ) so a proper bambina but very sociable and we'd love to meet more bimbi for her to play with.

Hi Katy,

Hello there. Our kids are 3, 5 and 7 but we're not living in Sulmona full time unfortunately. Still no doubt you'll see us on the Corso at some stage - usually wearing ice cream from head to toe!

Hi!  I see the first thread goes back to 2008 and wondered if you ever did get to organize family trips..I've been living in Abbruzzo since '91.  I've got two sons aged 12 and 8 who go to school  in Civitaquana.  My boys speak both English and Italian (Italian is their first language). My husband is Italian so we  speak Italian at home with me trying  my best to speak english to them as much as possible which believe me isn't always easier after living here for so many years.  I'd like to know if there is anybody on the forum who has children more or less their age and would like to meet up this summer.  Thanks!

Hi Teresa,

Not to my knowledge.  My little one starts asilo full time in September, so we'll have some little friends before too long, but I'd be happy to get together in the summer with any other families if you don't mind a very little one tagging along   We're in Sulmona but happy to meet anywhere within reason.  A picnic at the beach might be nice.

We have four children ages 4 Santino, 8 Ramone, 10 Adriano, and Sofia 13 and would love to start our life in Abruzzo. My husband is 100% Abruzzez and his passion is to die there!!! He is an upholsterer by trade. We currently reside in Vermont and Maine. Any info on properties to rent or rent to own would be fantastic! Also how would schooling work for the children? Public, private or homeschooling? Help us live our dream, Please respond via forum. Jessica and Dorindo DiMartino
