I know we are still looking at August but anything on in September or will everyone be exhausted from the excitement of the previous month?
Fingers crossed.

29th August until 5th September is the Settimana Medioevale in Lanciano.  They have lots of little stalls selling all things medieval, candles, leather goods etc.  There is a really lovely atmosphere and you can get to try medieval food and ale (as well as traditional pizza & pasta).

This culimnates on Sunday 5th (evening) with Il Mastrogiurato, the procession through the streets with everyone dressed in traditional costume of their quarter and lots of flag throwing, banging of drums.  Well worth seeing if you haven't already.

This is the big one in Lanciano, if you haven't been, don't miss

There is also a mega firework display and all nighter in the first half of Sept, if I can find details I'll post.

Dave

Must speed up my typing, there wasn't a reply when I started.
The link still holds though.

Baffi also beat me on the nature reserve at Vasto

Grrr - they both look like fantastic suggestions but we will miss as we are over mid-end Sept but seems like they are annual?  If so, will put down for next year.

We're also keen to hear of anything from Sept 10 - 25th. Please don't tell me all festivities end before that!

Don't get your knickers in a twist!  I didn't say it wasn't a good site just that I had found a festival of bullshit!

Can't get it to copy  but this is Heading - VI SAGRA DELLE FREGNACCE E DEGLI ARROSTICINI Cermignano.

Google translates this as - VI FESTIVAL AND ARROSTICINI BULLSHIT!

FREGNACCE is a typical beef based pasta dish but is also slang for bxxlocks and is often used in conjunction with speeches made by Silvio Berlusconi.

There are many food stuffs/dishes that have double meaning and are usually politically incorrect for instance round here a finocchio is a term for a gay person!  This still has my gay brother in stiches when I serve fennel up for lunch.

Hope this clears up any confusion

FREGNACCE

I love some of the confused translations/meanings for certain words.

A few years ago, mia figlia went around trying to tell everyone in the village  "ho pidocchio"

Thank the Lord she got completely confused and pronounced it as sono Pinocchio
