Have just watched My Place Iin the Sun - Abruzzo.
It is on A Place in the Sun, Channel 4 website.
When you go into the website click on A place in the Sun
then navigate to 4od

then My Place in the Sun, Series 2, Episode 7
This gives you the episode where Colin and Julia are revisited 2 tears after buying in Abruzzo.
Made me wish I was there :)

A Freudian slip?

When my wife first met me she knew immediately I was Mr Right, it was sometime later she realised my christian name was Always.

No, just my usual bad spelling - but you may have a point - have a look and decide for yourself. The only other Abruzzo episode I have seen had someone who obviously did not want to leave England's shores, but it was so funny to watch.
Makes me really envious though. I am writing this looking out at the usual summer holiday rain. Off now to put my heating back on. hmph!

I am very upset  Prissy and Alberto. So can I request that the adminisrators ban talk of sun and heat as we have had such a depressing year so far. No more talk of being out in the garden, sun cream, home grown veg or fruit, sparkling wine - I might even welcome a few mozzie bites the way I am feeling right now.

Oh dear, Maurross - where do you live? We've had a beautiful spring and summer here in the southern part of the UK.
But worryingly little rain. At least we've had some rain in July, but the ground's still rock hard.

We've been really unlucky with our trips to Italy though this year; went over in March, April, May and June - each time the weather was miserable. Near the end of June the temperature when we left Pescara at lunchtime was 13 degrees and it was throwing it down - and there was lots of snow had fallen on the mountains not far above our house.
Of course we then went over a couple of weeks ago when it was unbearably hot and we were eaten alive by the mozzies.

True to say that Italy generally has lots more sunshine but the downside is it can be much too hot - and the winter can be so harsh.

But we're lucky to get the chance to live in two beautiful countries; and appreciate the good points about both.

I am in the beautiful but cold and damp Northern Highlands of Scotland. I am really sorry about your trips to Abruzzo being quite miserable weather. Is this unusual? I was supposed to be coming over to sign papers in September, but being Italy that has now drifted to November or beyond.
You are right though about being lucky to be able to go to two beautiful parts of the world. I was over in July last year and the weather was gorgeous.
Was over again in October and could not believe that I was paddling in the sea in October after leaving a cold Scotland. The weather was just perfect and we spent some time in Rome. It was just the right temperature and not packed out so no queues anywhere - just lovely.

Thanks Magari, you have cheered me up now. I will stop moaning for a while.

Think we were a bit unlucky this year
Though I think it was a very wet spring and early summer in Italy, more so than any other year I can remember.
Our house is towards the mountains, so it's windier and gets more rain than the coastal region, though of course it's still beautifully sunny most of the time. And when it's really hot, the breezes are very welcome.
If you live in the Scottish Highlands, then yes, you definitely are really lucky, whatever the weather!

We too seem to be unlucky with the weather in Italy this year. Just noticed the weather forecast is for rain the minute I land on Thursday. Not craving quite so much for sunshine as usual though as we have had it in abundance in Sussex and I am looking out on clear blue skies now. Hardly any rain, I've actually taken to watering the lawn as it is practically dead!

Big thunderstorms from lunchtime on yesterday. We unplug the computers after having a modem fried in one storm.

This morning there is still a gentle drizzle so I hope it brightens up soon, specially for everyone who is on holiday.

Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference.
