Hi
My husband and I have had a house in Civitaquana for just over a year and we are slowly making improvements. One half is liveable but needs bringing into the 21st century, the other half badly damanged in the earthquake. We have just returned from 4 lovely weeks out there, in spite of the thunder and rain. I spent 2 hours one afternoon sweeping water away from my kitchen door, but still love it!
Does anyone on the forum know of a good architect in the area, preferably English speaking? We have some major structural work that we need advice about.
Hope to hear from somebody
Cheers
Chris

Hi To All,

I have been reading your threads and it is a faabulosu bolg site that you have here. Some excellent information and topics.

I have just registered with abruzzolutely as my wife and I are looking to buy a property in Abruzzo. We are also going to look at Le Marche however we do know somebody who has just sold up in Abruzzo and he speaks very highly of it. we wnat to buy either this year or early next year and coome out a few months a year to eventually live full time. We are torn between buying a place that is already restored or needs restoring. I wanted to ask you all a few questions and would really appreciate your input

- How negotiable are the prices you see advertised?
- If you do buy and want to restore how do you calculate what the value of the property will be after restoration e.g Buy 100k Euros, spend 100k Euros does that mean that it may be worth in 250k euros? Not looking at this for short term investment but want to make sure that it is viable as a project
- How difficult is it to go through the restoration process and how would you work out the costings for budgeting purposes?
- How to you source reputable builders?
- What are the pittfalls of doing a restoration project in Italy?
-

Many thanks in advance for any advice you can give me

AGW
